Laurie says he's appreciative of the support he's received for voters.
"I do look forward to taking office and making some positive changes. I think I have my work cut out for me. I'd just like to thank every one in my family and friends and all my supporters who have stuck with me throughout the campaign."
Laurie also says he respects Calhoon for his time in office.
Numbers will not be official until votes are canvassed by Atchison County Commissioners Monday morning at 9:30.
Provisional's will be decided upon if they will be counted at that time.
In other races, Republican Bill Pohl defeated Democratic Challenger Mary Perkins 1,135 to 774 for Third District Atchison County Commissioner.
He will replace outgoing Commissioner Tom Wagner, who didn't seek re-election after eight years in office.
In the Atchison County Register of Deeds race, Republican Shelley Campbell defeated Democrat Katie Vollmer 3,788 to 2,477.
The USD 409 bond issue to renovate parts of Atchison High School and the Roosevelt Building at Atchison Middle School passed 2,679 to 1,440.
