In this race, you will find an independent on the ballot facing republican incumbent Mike Kelly and democrat Missa Eaton. That independent is Steven Porter.
Doctor Steven Porter is a Wattsburg resident involved in politics, education, writing and music. The independent candidate has made a run for congress twice before, in 2004 and again in 2006.
He says he's ready to be your US Representative.
"The first thing I can do for the people of this district is to offer them choices in policies which they never hear and which they are protected from so to speak," said Steven Porter (I) Candidate for US Rep/PA 3rd District.
Porter is focusing on several issues in his campaign. He says the nation should return to the tax codes of the 1960's, also leave Afghanistan now and lift the social securities earning gap.
Porter also has plans for health care for Americans, but those plans do not include the current Affordable Care Act.
"Which is not affordable, which I believe is unconstitutional, because it forces people to buy from private sources under penalty."
Instead, Porter points to House bill HR676. An 18 page long health care bill that he says is currently stuck in committee.
"It's a comprehensive medical health care for every American, man, woman and child, lifetime. It's portable, it's complete. It's doctor care, dental, eye care, prosthetic, pharmaceutical care, long term care, it's everything."
Steven Porter assures you if he's elected to Congress his voice will be heard. Although, he realizes he won't be able to accomplish the things he wishes to accomplish on Capitol Hill.
"One person can't fight $14 trillion worth of special influence alone. But I can make the American people aware of the game that's being played with their lives."
He continues saying, "the journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step. We had better start taking that step, time is running out for us."
