MACKINAW - A local youth sports program is looking for help from voters in order to keep going.

The Mackinaw Recreation Board provides year-round sporting opportunities for three to four-hundred children in the Mackinaw area.

But with a growing program comes growing costs and a referendum on the March 20th ballot is asking for a property tax increase to support the program.

If passed, the owner of a one-hundred thousand dollar home would pay about fifty dollars a year more in taxes.

Officials say the program provides opportunities to kids who may not have many in the area.
