What You Need To Know For Election Day

The Monroe County Board of Elections says they expect a large turnout on
election day. That is why they are offering a number of inspectors to
help you out.
Even with the new equipment, Election Commissioner Tom Farrarese does not expect any hiccups on election day because each machine has been checked. But there is still concern after Hurricane Sandy.
"We are dealing with a number of voters who are stranded in various places. We are trying to work with them. The state has relaxed a little bit," Farrarese said.
That is why the state is giving voters extra time to turn in their absentee ballots. Ballots must be postmarked by Monday and will be accepted through the 19th. No need to worry: there is plenty of help with more than 2,800 inspectors on hand to assist you at the polls.
"Inspectors are really well equipped because they can aasist voters and provide them with information about the ballot, how to fill out the ballot," Farrarese said.
Even with all the help Farrarese says voters can review the ballot and find your polling site online. He says you can review the ballot and make your decisions before election day.
"Voters need to know there is a lot of information posted on the sites, sample ballots will be posted on the sites, a number of districts where spanish interpreters will be available," Farrarese said.
Avoiding the rush always helps. Farrarese suggests staying away from the polls before work, during lunchtime and after 5 p.m.
