11th Congressional District Democrat Debate

Kingston, Luzerne County - A pink pig, a wall street journal article, and two men in the race for the 11th Congressional seat held by Lou Barletta.

Bill Vinsko and Gene Stilp are squaring off for the Democratic nomination.

It's a race getting national attention and it has nothing to do with who's running.

The national attention comes from how the boundaries of the 11th district were re-drawn.

In a front-page article, the wall street journal says Lou Barletta could have been in trouble, if it wasn't for how his district was re-drawn.

Then there are the two democrats who want his seat in congress.

With the question, what kind of chance do they stand?

With a pair of pink pigs outside, one of the more gentle debates went on inside this Kingston auditorium.

Bill Vinsko and Gene Stilp shook hands.

The men even signed a clean campaign pledge.

Stilp is a citizen activist.

He takes credit for shedding light on that 2005 midnight legislative pay raise in Pennsylvania and says he filed the first complaint in the bonus gate investigation.

The forum, moderated by the League of Women Voters, touched on more than a dozen issues, though the one looming largest for the Democrats in the race.

How the district was sliced, diced and re-worked in a legislative re-draw.

One that critics say keeps the seat safely in Republican hands.

In fact, when the district's boundaries were changed, Vinsko found himself suddenly in another district.

He says the fact he lives outside the 11th changes nothing but his democrat opponent has been known to raise the issue.
