Williamsport, Lycoming County Nov. 16 -- State Rep. Rick Mirabito, D-Lycoming, today joined PennDot officials and other dignitaries at a dedication and ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the new bridge connecting DuBoistown to Williamsport over the Susquehanna River.

"This project began as a desire to stay true to the commitment of improving the infrastructure in Lycoming County," Mirabito said. "Seeing these types of projects through to completion are practical ways of improving the lives of our citizens.

"I would like to thank everyone who assisted in making this a success."

Mirabito worked closely with a number of elected officials to secure funding from federal sources in order to begin the project and construction took just two years. All scheduled work to be done on the bridge will be completed by spring of 2013.

In addition to Mirabito, the list of officials who gave remarks Friday includes: state Sen. Gene Yaw; Mike Glazier, aide to Congressman Glenn Thompson; Lycoming County Commissioner Jeff Wheeland and Williamsport Mayor Gabriel Campana.
