Sandy Tears Through Union County

Wind gusts ripped off siding.....
Snapped trees...
And left a lot to clean up in Mifflinburg.
"It started getting pretty wicked around here and the trees started blowing and we were watching out the window, of course we didn't see or hear the trees come down, but this morning when we woke up it was like 'oh my'."
said Tammy Catherman of Mifflinburg.
Tammy Catherman's family prepared for a power outage -- with a generator.
Meanwhile her neighbors had a lot more to deal with as huge trees came down on either side of their house.
That seemed to be the story up and down Forest Hill Road.
"We got pretty fortunate. The tree didn't hit our house, but I saw other places where there is some damage to houses and barn roofs are blown off. I didn't even go that far and I saw quite a bit of damage." said Kurtz
"We heard a crash when we were witting on the couch and I was like I think the barn fell down. We went out the window and that was what we saw and that would be why we don't have power." said Trevor Ulrich of Mifflnburg.
Things got pretty gusty in West Buffalo Township. The wind ripped the roof off of this barn and threw it onto power lines, knocking out power to folks in the area."
As Sandy passed she made sure she left her mark on Union County,
"We haven't heard anything. They just say that they don't know when the power will be back on this time. They are still assessing the damage." added Tammy Catherman.
