Scranton, Lackwanna County - Scranton mayor Chris Doherty's act of cutting union salaries to minimum wage is under attack.

A major union took out a full page newspaper ad criticizing the mayor.

The ad featured in today's edition of the Scranton Sunday Times portrays Doherty wearing a dunce cap and red clown nose.

The headline caption reads "Mayor Doherty is making Scranton the laughing stock of America".

It claims Doherty is above the law and that he's the poster child of what's wrong with politics.

The International Association of Firefighters took out the ad.

It comes just one day after 10-year veteran Scranton firefighter Bob Zoltewicz appeared in our Wilkes-Barre newsroom for a CNN interview.

He said the fire department remains strong.

Scranton unions are seeking a contempt of court hearing against Doherty, who defied a judge's order, by enacting the minimum wage pay cut to nearly 400 city employees.

A Lackawanna County judge is scheduled to hear the case July 24th.
