Congressional Hearing Focuses on Flood Response
LaPlume Twp., Lackawanna County -- A Congressional hearing on the historic September flood put the emergency response under the microscope. Leaders talked about what went right and what could be done better.
The hearing was held today at Keystone College. Top officials from both federal and state agencies testified.
Supervisor Frank Miner from hard-hit Forkston Township in Wyoming County still has concerns. "Our town is half back to normal. Our roads are in decent shape but the problem is, we're gonna get flooded again unless we get the streets cleaned out."
Lawmakers at the hearing said the state and local levels have done a good job, but can always do more to prevent future flooding.
