Toby Creek Floods Parts of the Back Mountain
Back Mountain, Luzerne County -- Toby Creek ran out of its banks Tuesday evening after more than 4" of rain fell in only a few hours in the Dallas area.
Lower Demunds Road in Dallas Township was inundated with water from flash flooding. Some drivers risked their lives by driving through the flooded out roadway which PennDOT urges drivers never to do.
In Dallas the water was so high it came up the tires of a car parked at the Back Mountain Shopping Center. If you're in your car and something like this happens,- officials say it's always better to be safe and get to higher ground.
And Toby Creek in Shavertown spilled over its banks causing some major flooding problems for some homes and businesses along North Main Street. Even the fire department had to rescue themselves by sand bagging the firehouse to prevent damage to the building.
