Floodgates Closed Along Solomon Creek
Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County -- For the second time in three weeks people living along Solomon Creek in Wilkes-Barre are dealing with flooding.
Tuesday night city officials activated the flood protection system for the creek's bridges along Franklin, Regent, Barney and Waller streets.
At that point, officials called the move a precautionary measure. The flood gates here protect city homes along the creek up to a water level of about 14 feet.
In the days leading up to the Flood of 2011, Solomon Creek's rising waters forced city officials to call for mandatory evacuations of the homes that sit nearby.
