Jenkins Township, Luzerne County- It's considered the hardest hit northeast manufacturing plant by the Flood of 2011.  Just two weeks ago, Milazzo Industries was under 14 feet of water.  But now owners are now trying to clean up and keep their business afloat during their busiest season.

Over the year's Milazzo Industries, in Jenkins Township, has survived several floods and a devastating fire.  But owners say nothing could have prepared them for the Flood of 2011.

John Wesolowski, Senior VP of Milazzo Industries says, "It's not something that we necessarily planned for or we were prepared for considering the reports we were getting."

Milazzo manufactures and distributes ice control agents, all across the country including right here in Northeastern Pennsylvania.  They say the flood wiped out at least 30 percent of their product and damage estimates reach into the millions.

Plant Manager, Louis Degnan told Eyewitness News, "Unfortunately we didn't anticipate that the water was going to crest near 44 feet so we actually got 14 feet in the manufacturing facility.  Everything has to be rebuilt, reworked or replaced. Both equipment and machinery, forklifts including inventory."

Owners say this was the absolute worst time for a flood because the fall months are their busiest season when businesses stock pile for the winter months.

We're shipping as we speak so we are getting product out there in the market and just one day at a time.  That's all you can do." Say Wesolowski.

For the last two weeks employees have shifted gears. They're now going through all the inventory and getting rid of any bags of ice control agents touched by the flood water.  But everyone is staying positive and Milazzo Industries says customers in our area have nothing to worry about. They'll make sure the locals are taken care of this winter.

Owners plan to have the plant back up and running within the next month.  They say in the meantime, they hope their clients will remain patient and loyal.
