Dupont,Luzerne County--   State Representative Mike Carroll says he want to make certain hit and run laws tougher. One law in particular which was made stricter last year can be made even tougher,so says Carroll.  He said, "We want to make it so people won't consider leaving the scene of crashes that involve deaths. The way it is now people know it's much better to face the lighter penalties of leaving the scene as compared to stopping and rendering aid especially if they are intoxicated."   Several deadly hit and run crashed have thrust the issue of tougher penalties into the spotlight. The law in question is called: "Leaving the scene of accidents involving death or injury" it was upgraded in 2012 adding a minimum mandatory penalty of one or two years for people leaving the scene of crashes. Carroll says it can be made even tougher. He added, "I think we can enhance it even further and make sure we make people think twice about leaving then scene of crashes."
