F.M. Kirby Center to Aid in Hurricane Relief Initiative

Updated: November 10, 2012
(Wilkes-Barre, PA) - It was announced today that the F.M. Kirby Center for the Performing Arts will engage in a fundraising initiative aimed at benefiting those affected by Hurricane Sandy.

A donation center will be set-up in the venue's lobby at all events throughout the remainder of 2012, beginning with this Saturday's performance by comedian Brian Regan.

All donated funds will be directed to Feeding America via the Commission on Economic Opportunity (CEO). Cash donations and checks made payable to "Feeding America" will be accepted. Donations can also be made online at www.ceopeoplehelpingpeople.org and at the Kirby Center Box Office during normal business hours.

"We're so proud to team up with these great organizations and help those affected by this devastating storm," said Marilyn Santarelli, Executive Director of the F.M. Kirby Center. "We're just doing our small part."

Hurricane Sandy ravaged the northeastern part of the country two weeks ago, taking at least 85 lives and causing massive power outages, gas shortages and tens of billions of dollars in damage.

The F.M. Kirby Center still has 10 performances remaining on its 2012 calendar. A full show list is available at www.kirbycenter.org.

For information on how you can assist in this effort, call (570) 823-4599 today.
