A jury of 7 women and 5 men will begin hearing evidence in the case of accused child sex predator Jerry Sandusky at 9 am Monday. Sandusky, the former defensive coordinator, faces 52 counts of alleged child sex abuse involving 10 boys over a 15 year period.
Prosecutors say Sandusky used a charity he started in the late 1970's to groom them assault his victims. Many of the alleged crimes occurred on or nest the campus of Penn State University.
Sandusky maintains his innocence. The case helped bring down legendary football coach Joe Paterno. The world news media had once again converged on tiny Bellefonte. Residents here are actually glad the trial is getting started. Bob Mehean said, "The sooner its gets started the sooner it gets finished."
