Scott Township, Lackawanna County - A parade of musicians, motorcycles and military supporters marched through Scott Township. They passed under a giant American flag to what will soon be a new home for a wounded warrior.

It was a well deserved celebration for retired Army National Guard Staff Sergeant Earl Granville. He smiled,"Today is just overwhelming, unbelievable. I can't thank the community enough for coming out."

A charity called "Homes for Our Troops" is workig with volunteers to put up a house for Granville. It is designed to make it easy for him to get around. He said,"With this  I have the ability to be on crutches or a wheelchair all the time. No stairs. A complete ranch style house."

Seargeant Granville served two tours in Afghanistan. On his second tour, in 2008, a roadside bomb tore through his legs. One had to be amputated. The community rallied around him. He said,"The support has been so overwhelming. I'm very grateful."

His new home will include wide entry ways, wheel chair height cabinets and a therapeutic tub.

Hundreds of volunteers are helping with what they call a "build brigade." Volunteer Dan Fair said,"It's good. It's good. Having everybody here helping out."

They will have the outside finished in three days. Builder Ken Kurtz said,"[We will] get the shell up the trusses on, the shingles on and the windows in and siding on by Sunday night."

Kurtz is overseeing the project and donating labor. He said,"One thing I really enjoy is my freedom and these guys are taking care of that for us."

Volunteers said they are thankful for brave soldiers like Earl Granville. They are glad to help build a home for the brave in the home of the brave.

Granville smiled,"Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I cannot thank you enough. It has been amazing."

"Homes for Our Troops" has put up more than 100 homes in 37 states. The average home costs $400,000. It all comes from donations.
