Fallen Officers Remembered

By: Jayne Ann Bugda
Updated: February 9, 2013

A number of events are being planned to benefit Fallen Officers Remembered.  Proceeds will be used to buy new bulletproof vests for the many law enforcement officers in need.

On average, one law enforcement officer is killed somewhere in America nearly every 53 hours; the number one cause, currently, is gunfire. More than 62,000 officers are assaulted each year and approximately 21,000 are injured. Today, some 900,000 sworn officers put their lives on the line to "protect and serve" each and every day. 250,000 officers, nationwide, are not provided with nor protected by body armor.

They are the "forgotten, taken-for-granted" heroes.

More than 70% of Luzerne County Law Enforcement Officers are not provided with body armor. The best way our law enforcement officers can protect our loved ones, is if they are protected with body armor.
