"I don't think its fair to close any library. I mean, a lot of kids need to read books and fortunately to get to them, its hard for some parents to get them to the library and the farther they are, the harder it is to get to books." said Sonia Berrios of Milford
While many people say the library is a community asset in this part of Northern Pike County. others say they don't think it gets enough use.
I don't think there's much use for it really. I don't see the people using it or nothing." noted Harold Baker of Greeley
While there are other library branches in Milford... people say the permanent closure of this facility will mean a longer drive to check out books or use the computer.
They especially worry about the summer... When they see a lot of kids use the library.
The kids that come from the camps, they usually use the computers, so...said Ines Gordon of Greeley. Adding it would be very sad if the library didn't open.
Library officials say the reasons are financial.
They say this library branch was under performing.
Statistics show the usage here was in the "hundreds" as opposed to "thousands" at other branches
Over the last few years, library officials say they've lost more than 100-thousand dollars in funding.
Officials say they're looking at options to keep a presence in northern Pike County.
