Moosic, Lackawanna County - Excitement is growing at PNC Field as the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders baseball season draws near.  This weekend, for the first time at the newly renovated and constructed stadium, the box office opened and fans were able to get their tickets.

Hot off the press!  Tickets were being sold for the Scranton Wilkes-Barre Railriders faster than they could print!

Rob Crain, President/GM., of the SWB Railriders says, "The way things are going and the way our phones are ringing off the hooks, I know internet sales are great right now and it's only 10 after 10."

The brand new box office opened at 10:00 a.m. Saturday morning and for the first time fans were able to purchase single tickets to any of the 72 home games.

Hal Lawler picked up two tickets for opening day. He plans to bring his grandsons to a game, "I'm a big baseball fan and I'm sure they are going to be, too."

Hal has been watching baseball games at PNC field since the Yankees came to town. But now with a new name, a new facility and two new mascots he says his original excitement is back in full force, "I think the new mascot they have the kids will like, although Champ was good, too."

Cheryl Zaladonis picked up her 18 game package. She says her family has never been to a game before so now is the time, "I think it was really good for the area and I think it's going to bring a lot of people in. We already met people from Harrisburg that came up today!"

The PNC Field box office is now open Monday through Friday from 10am to 5pm or you can buy Railriders tickets anytime online.
