LaPlume, Lackawanna County - After a six month search, Keystone College named its tenth president Monday afternoon.

The Board of Trustees announced that Dr. David Coppola will become college president on June 1, 2013.

Dr. Coppola currently serves as Vice President of Strategic Planning and Administration at Sacred Heart University in Connecticut.

"This community is serious about academics but also very welcoming and friendly," Dr. Coppola said.

He will succeed Dr. Edward Boehm who said he planned to step down at the end of the 2012-2013 academic year in August. He has led Keystone College since 1995.

Dr. Coppola says he plans to help Keystone College grow. With the college's 150th anniversary approaching, Dr. Coppola says he's looking to grow the college's athletic facilities but also work with the current faculty on the school's core values.

"That is my number one priority, to continue to support, foster and cultivate academic excellence," Dr. Coppola said.
