Wilkes-Bare, Luzerne County- Freshmen students in Wilkes University's Sidhu School of Business are required to start their own businesses during their first-year Integrated Management Experience classes. Teams of students receive a small budget to begin businesses selling goods or services. The student businesses are launched in the spring semester and profits are donated to a charity of their choice.
Student teams will present their business plans at an event on Monday, Dec. 10 at 4 p.m. in the first floor hall of Breiseth Hall on the Wilkes Campus. Businesses developed in the 2012 fall semester include a laundry business, gift basket business and the sale of such items as specially designed shirts and hats. Breiseth Hall is located on South Franklin Street, halfway between South and Northampton streets. Faculty and staff will review posters promoting the businesses and vote on the student business teams to be honored in the following categories:
Most Entrepreneurial (Risk taking and Innovative)
Best Teamwork
Best Elevator Pitch
Best Presentation Board
