According to the National Retail Association...It's $130 dollars...
Not everyone agrees with those costs...Kelly Knorr and her boyfriend have been together for 2 and a half years. She says they like to keep Valentines Day pretty low-key...
"I feel like everyone expects jewelry flowers, everything, it's just about the person you love. You can't just buy things and have girls think it's just a Hallmark card. It's about the person you're with, that's about it." Said Kelly Knorr of Bear Creek.
Hilary Forlenza, of Star Tresses Grand Salon and Day Spa, doesn't mind the dollar signs
"The average man spends $180 on valentines day, is that starting to get above your expectations? No, not at all."
When asked her about her most memorable Valentine's Day treasure, her answer came quick...
"My Husabnd and my son. Those are the best gifts. Those are the gfits that matter. ...a pair of diamond studs doesn't hurt either.
The biggest expense on Valentine's Day spending comes from jewlery.
The retail foundation says consumers spent almost 4-point-5 billion dollars last year on Valentine's Day.
