Plains Township, Luzerne County- The crew here at Bakery Delite has been baking all night long. This festive goodie is know as a King Cake. A few dozen are ready to be sold, in addition to the nearly five thousand donuts that have been made. Customers have their choice of the Polish donut known as a Paczki, or the German treat, the Fastnacht. "The main things are the Paczkis the Fastnachts and the King Cakes. They're the main items for today." says, owner Annette Kosmach. Joann Filippini comes to the bakery every year. She knows exactly what she wants. "It's Fat Tuesday and I love the Paczkis. It's a Polish tradition in my family. So I am here every Fat Tuesday for the Paczkis." Says, Filippini. For Nancy Jo Gubbiotti, the decision wasn't so easy, so she's trying a little bit of everything. "well, it's Mardi Gras so it's what the fat Tuesday so we will try all different ones. They told me to pick whatever i wanted. It was either the Mardi Gras cake or the bagels, so we will go for something different." Says, Gubbiotti. The Paczkis come in over a dozen flavors from pineapple to apricot to strawberry and cherry, but the most popular are the cream flavors. Owner Annette Kosmach has been in business for over 30 years. She makes sure her customers are happy, with whatever flavor they choice. "We make everything from scratch, so we put a lot of effort into it so we would like to present a good product." says, Kosmach. Her daughter Kyra also helps out in the bakery. Her take on Fat Tuesday? "Yeah, pretty exciting, it's fun. Ya know it's fun, it's very messy." Says, Kosmach.
