Casey Vs Smith Senate Battle

Scranton, Lacakawnna County -      With voting already underway... Senator Bob Casey spent part of the day Tuesday campaigning at chic's diner in Scranton.
    In his quest for a second u.S. Senate term... The Scranton democrat was looking for last minute votes.

 
"I think the turnout numbers being elevated helps a lot and look, people know there's a lot at stake, there's a lot at stake in my race when it comes to handle medicare." said Senator Bob Casey (D) U.S. Senate Candidate

    Casey is running against republican Tom Smith from  Armstrong County.
    Smith is running on plans to simplify the tax code and end out-of-control federal spending.   
    At the polls in Scranton, many voters were ready to support their hometown boy.

 
"I think Casey's doing the best he can with what he has to work with...So let the guy keep going and maybe he can implement the stuff he's trying to implement and we can get some progress.." said Melvin Frazier of Scranton

    After watching campaign commercials. others admitted change might be needed.

 
"I think its a shame. They outta cut down on this here politicking, going around and all these ads on television" said Clifford Powell of Scranton

    With some polls tightening in the last few weeks.  Casey's campaign has criticized smith for spending 17 million of his own money.
    Tuesday... Casey tried to keep it upbeat.

 
"I've had the blessing to have served in three public offices and no matter what happens today, I've been blessed to have served in three and the main reason for that is the support I got here at home"  Casey added.
According to the Casey campaign   Tom Smith has spent the most personal money by any candidate in Pennsylvania history.
    They also say this race is the fourth most expensive senate race in the country this cycle.
