Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County -- Police took a suspect into custody Sunday evening following a highway high speed chase across two counties.

State and local police pursued a driver late Sunday afternoon topping speeds of 100 miles per hour at times on Interstate 81 throughout Luzerne and Lackawanna counties.

At one point the suspect jumped lanes and sped away in the wrong direction.

Authorities finally used stop sticks to flatten the driver's tires and make the arrest near the I-81 Pittston exit just before 5:00 P.M.

Police took the suspect to Wilkes-Barre police headquarters where he was still awaiting charges Sunday evening.
