Athens, Bradford County - More than a year after historic flooding, a post office in Bradford County has re-opened its doors.
The Athens Post Office on Souh Main Street reopened its doors for the first time on Saturday.
"I think it's about time. That is what I think. I got tired of running over to Sayre all the time," Neil Coy of Athens said.
Last September, like a majority of other businesses on Main Street, flood waters caused a lot of damage inside the post office.
It may have taken 13 months to get back in business but no one is really complaining.
"It's absolutely great. It's a lot easier finding some place to park. You don't have to go all the way to Sayre," Daniel McNamara of East Athens said.
Because of flooding, a majority of the post office floor had to be replaced.
Employees say the reopening is important because a post office is more than just a place to buy stamps, it is a community cornerstone.
"I think it is awesome. Businesses are coming back and soon we're going to have the storefronts full," Amy Quattrini of Sayre said.
