Harveys Lake, Luzerne County -- Ready or not, dozens of brave souls took a leap of faith and splashed their way into an icy cold Harveys Lake on Saturday afternoon. A place that's a popular summer spot became a heartwarming site in winter -- even if conditions were anything but warm. "Cold but it was for a great cause. You're just blessed every day," said one unidentified participant.

Blessed because the shivering participants aren't fighting the battle that 2-year-old Jasleen Glover of Wilkes-Barre wages every day. "Her mother is constantly at home taking care of her you know. Her mother is just trapped there being by her side," said Anthony Glover. His daughter suffers from leukemia requiring her to have spinal taps, chemotherapy and steroid treatments on a weekly basis. Patrick Doyne of Luzerne, who works with Glover at Mohegan Sun Casino, organized the event after hearing about the little girl's plight and the family's mounting medical bills. "There's a lot of unfamiliar faces here and it just shows the kindness of strangers that want to come out and give a helping hand," said Mr. Doyne.

All 51 participants deserved a high five for exhibiting courage to take a plunge for a toddler who exhibits courage every day of her life. "It feels good to know that people that you barely even know are here to support you. People that you've never shaken their hand, never seen their face there just all out here ready to freeze for a good cause," said Mr. Glover. Jasleen's mother Julissa Perez added, "I told my daughter about the event and she's like oh this is cool mommy. Everybody's jumping in the water. I told her I'd bring her pictures so she's very excited and she understands what's going on. And I appreciate everybody coming out."

The polar plunge fundraiser netted more than $1,000 for Jasleen Glover whose leukemia is now in remission.
