Kingston Township,
Luzerne County - The Christmas season is over, and for Kingstown Township's
road supervisor, that means extra work. Don Fritzges is the supervisor for the
Public Works Department he says, "Lots of Christmas trees that we have to
go and pick up to recycle." Over the next few weeks hundreds of old,
unwanted Christmas trees will make their way to the public works department.
What used to be the
focal point of everyone's Christmas holiday, will soon lie on the side of the
street ready for pick up. But the good news is that once the trees go through
the grinder they will have a new purpose within the community. As Fritzges
says, "They're all here because the machine is here and will grind them up for
mulch." Each and every tree will head into this machine known as "The
Beast" basically, a giant grinder that turns the trees into mulch for the
community. A product that Fritzges is in high demand, "There's
a lot of people here all summer long taking it, so they must really enjoy it
being provided to them."
Kingston Township
residents should leave their old Christmas trees on the curb for the Public Works Department to pick up and make sure to take
off all the ornaments!
