I knew I wanted to raise money while running my first-ever marathon, the Steamtown Marathon on October 7th. I'm on the board for Candy's Place, the area's only free cancer wellness center. They provide free services for cancer patients and their loved ones -- everything from exercise classes to massages to support groups.

As for Make-A-Wish, I've met some of the children who've benefited from this program, and I feel no child should ever have to know what a disease is. But for those who do, they deserve to get away and experience something every child deserves -- a care-free getaway with loved ones.
