Scranton, Lackawanna County- The McQueeney family drove four hours, all the way from Edge Water Maryland, to enjoy a weekend of skiing.

"Off work today. I'm here with my daughter ryley who's six and my wife Sarah. We're just going to do a half day and then head on home." said Chris McQueeney
Six year old Rylie has been skiing since she was just three years old.
For the Pozaic sisters, they're trying skiing out for the very first time.

"We're going skiing for lessons, learning how to ski for the first time." said Carrie Pozaic of West Wyoming

"I was thinking about doing it cause I thought water skiing was easy. So I wanted to try skiing."  added Lindsay Pozaic
Presidents' day weekend is a big time for skiers..and  this Presidents' Day was no different.

"With this Presidents' Day weekend, with the weather being under thirty-two degrees, the rentals here have been, it has just been crazy."  said Warren Wuelsh of Sno Mountain.

"Now because of the busy holiday weekend, the mountains have been packed, and that means ski patrols are keeping an extra eye out on skiiers making sure everyone is being safe."

"Well, little things we can do to keep it safe are mark any obstacles that people should be aware of. We try and keep people on the groomed trails. If there is anyway that somebody is tempted to go off the trail to a slope that isn't open, we have it ribboned off. " Said Dave Oswell of the Ski Patrol on Sno Mountain
Oswell also suggests protecting yourself by dressing in layers, taking breaks when you are tired and keeping hydrated.
    Another important tip for skiers...

"The skier below you always has the right away. So, you want to ski in control, and you want to yield to the skier below you."

For those lucky enough to have the day off from work or school, skiing seems like the perfect idea.
Workers here say the  season tends to wrap up around Saint Patty's Day, which isn't far away!
