Tobyhanna Army Depot-The Tobyhanna Army Depot has had a huge economical impact in our area.
And today its signal division celebrated its 60th year.
"It is an enormous privilege for me serving as a Senator for the 22nd district to talk about Tobyhanna no matter where I am, if I'm in the capital or anywhere..I always speak with great pride."

Senator John Blake was one of a few hundred people that gathered today to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the Tobyhanna Signal Depot.

A sentimental place for Blake, his father worked here for more than 30 years and he know how it important it is to the people he represents.

"Tobyhanna  is the most important employer in Northeast PA. Over 5-thousand people here. Not only those 5-thousand people, it's the peripheral.  Other business, vendors. Over 19-thousand jobs are supported by the work at Tobyhanna."

In addition to all of the economical success, the Northeastern Pennsylvania site also enjoys being a leader in military communication...

"It's the work at Tobyhanna that keeps us on the edge of the communication technology."

"We allow someone to identify, track, locate, target, neutralize." said Col. Gerhard Schroter of the Tobyhanna Army Deport

It takes a massive effort to run such a massive operation and that's part of the facilities charm...

"It's like it's own town. Place is so big. We have our fire department, security, public works. It's like a community within a community." said Mark Samsell, Property and Liability Investigations.

"They so much to make everybody feel part of the family...Can't even explain how good it is here."

Although the signal division is celebrating 60 years..The Army Depot itself is more than 100 years old.
