Wilkes-Barre Budget Update Retirement Incentive

Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County-The city of Wilkes-Barre is trying to sew up a multimillion dollar budget shortfall.
     The deadline for an early retirement incentive offered by Mayor Tom Leighton was yesterday.
     The incentive includes a 400-dollar monthly stipend for three years.
     Of 51 city employees.. 11 took the deal.
     The retirees include four firefighters, two police officers, two  public works employees, and three others.
     Now Mayor Leighton will determine how many layoffs need to be made.
