East Stroudsburg, Monroe County - There are free loans available for federal employees bracing for furloughs.

The Tobyhanna Federal Credit Union is offering furloughed members $7,000 loans with 0% interest for the first six months. Credit Union members furloughed from federal jobs like positions at the Tobyhanna Army Depot and Federal Prison are eligible.

Federal furloughs are expected to begin in April. Workers will lose one day's pay a week for 22 weeks. The Tobyhanna Federal Credit Union President said $7,000 will help people make up for the lost pay.

You do not have to have good credit to qualify. You simply have to provide your furlough notice and pay stubs.

For more information on the loans and how to join the credit union visit www.tobyhannafcu.org .
