Scranton, Lackawanna County - A jury has been selected to hear the trial of a former state representative who is accused of assault in Lackawanna County.

Kevin Murphy is facing assault and harassment charges.

He is accused of getting into a domestic disturbance with his wife and another man last July outside a home on Leggett Street in Scranton.

Denise Murphy says her husband grabbed her hair forcefully, pushed her down and late slapped her. The other man says Murphy punched him in the side of the head and put him in a chokehold.

At a preliminary hearing last August, Murphy's attorney said the incident boils down to a child custody dispute for the couple's three kids.

Testimony is slated to begin Wednesday morning at 9:00 AM.
