DUNMORE, Jan. 29 - State Rep. Kevin Haggerty today announced the awarding of $1.285 million in grants for the 112th District.

The City of Scranton Lace Building Project received $440,000 to help with a portion of the Scranton Lace Co. Industrial Complex remediation project. The city also received $500,000 to pave over 80 blocks of cracked and potholed streets throughout downtown and in surrounding neighborhoods.

The Borough of Dunmore received a $345,000 grant for renovating and expanding its fire house. Haggerty said the expansion was needed for quite some time.

"These grants represent a tremendous boon all over Lackawanna County," Haggerty said. "This money will help us maintain transportation infrastructure in the community, as well as enhance the ability of our first responders to protect our families, friends and neighbors."

Haggerty, D-Lackawanna, said he thanks Senate Finance Committee Democratic Chairman John Blake, House Democratic Leader Frank Dermody and local county and municipal officials for their help in procuring the grants.

"I commend Senator John Blake on our team effort in helping our mutual constituents in the 112th District. At a time when state funding is at an all-time low, it is reassuring to have formed a strong relationship with Senator Blake," he said.
