Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County- Walter Griffith, the controller of Luzerne County, was accused Monday of violating the state's wiretapping laws by recording a phone conversation in March, 2011. The allegations are contained in a lawsuit filed earlier today by attorneys on behalf of Y. Judd Shoval, a resident of Kingston. A press release from a Scranton law firm claims Griffith's actions were planned and premeditated.

The Citizens' Voice is reporting the Luzerne County District Attorney's office forwarded the allegations contained in the lawsuit to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office. A spokesman for the attorney general's office could neither confirm or deny the existence of an investigation.

Multiple phone calls and text messages seeking comment from Stefanie Salavantis, district attorney and Sam Sanguedolce, first assistant district attorney, were not immediately returned.

A call and message left for Griffith was not returned.
