Williamsport, Lycoming County --

Williamsport Mayor, Gabe Campana calls his ideas "Destination 2014." The new development will be right in the heart of downtown Williamsport between West Third and West Fourth Street. The plans include the construciton of retail space, open areas for the public, and much needed housing. Included in all of this is the renovation of the current YMCA building.

The plan calls for the installation of an indoor ice rink. Right now the new team in town, the Williamsport Outlaws, play outside on Bowman Field. An indoor rink could make Williamsport a hockey town. The Mayor hopes this area will be the literal center-piece for the city of Williamsport.

A new ten-millon dollar YMCA will be built in another part of town near the Williamsport Hospital. Two weeks ago the present arena was sold to a local developer. All totaled between public and private investment, as well as tax credits, the project will run about thirty million dollars.
