Dunmore, Lackawanna County - There is shock and anger in one Lackawanna County community after a real-life grinch was caught on camera.
The man was caught swiping a holiday wreathe from the door of a home early Sunday morning in Dunmore.
The homeowner asked not to be identified but lived along Madison Avenue in Dunmore.
The theft only took a total of 40 seconds. The man walked right up to the front door of the home and stole a four-foot wreathe on the door of the home.
He took the timer too and simply walked back to his car at 3:36 AM.
"That is ridiculous. I can't believe that somebody would do that. It's crazy," Regina Rinaldi of Dunmore said.
As we shared the video of the real-life grinch around town, many were shocked.
"I just can't believe that at a time of the year when everybody should be happy about things that they would be that destructive to go and take somebody's decorations," Suzanne Verespey said. "I think it's kinda crazy actually."
At the Mitchell house on West Drinker Street, the rain didn't stop family members from putting up their decorations Monday afternoon.
They're hoping a crook doesn't take them down.
"I think it's ridiculous because we haven't really had anything like that happening around our neighborhood," Torre Mitchell of Dunmore said. "No one goes up and steals anything off the porches. It's a calm neighborhood."
"I wouldn't even go into someone's property in the first place so I don't know why you'd want to steal something from someone's property," Juliana Soroka of Clarks Summit said.
The owner of the wreathe that was swiped says it just went up four or five days ago. His family was in Hershey when it was taken.
Anyone with information on the theft is urged to call Dunmore Police.
