Thanksgiving is right around the corner which means we better start thinking of dessert! Ya know, the one that looks so good that everybody is eyeing it ...and that's even before the turkey comes out of the oven! So to help us do that, I've asked my good friends and cookbook authors Karen Tack and Alan Richardson to share a few recipes from their new book "Cupcakes, Cookies & Pie, Oh My!" Glad to have you guys back! Karen: Thanks for having us! Alan: Oh boy! And we're so happy to be here! You know you asked us to bring you something special for the holidays so, we think we made the best tasting and easiest pumpkin pie we've come up with yet! Mr. Food: Already it smells so delicious! Alan: I know it's amazing right! Karen: And we'll share that recipe with you but I want to show you how everyone can fancy up their pies! Mr. Food: Go, go! Karen: We unrolled some refrigerated pie dough, and using a leaf-shape cookie cutter or a paring knife, we cut out some leaves and paint them with some food color mixed with a beaten egg; here we used all the autumn colors! After they bake off and they cool, Alan's arranging them here to decorate the top of our pie! It looks like we fussed all day, but it really took just minutes! Mr. Food: That looks so fall-like, and I see you also used these to fancy up a grated apple pie we just made! Alan: They'll liven up any pie! Homemade or store-bought or homemade! Mr. Food: Look, the recipe from Alan and Karen's cookbook for what I call "Dressed Up Holiday Pie" along with a bonus recipe for these "Autumn Cookie Pops", are all online now! Karen: Mr. Food, I hope you like what we showed you today Mr. Food: oh I do! Two desserts, so easy, so fancy-looking and a guaranteed... "OOH IT'S SO GOOD!! " Alan: I love the way he say's that!
