Tamaqua, Carbon County- The Minersville Area Battlin' Miners and the Tamaqua Area Blue Raiders are gearing up to bring awareness to a cause that is both relevant and real, bullying.
On Friday, October 26th both schools will compete in a football game and plan to use the contest to raise awareness and funds for this cause.
Bullying is a national issue that demotes self-worth and promotes adversarial relationships. By bringing awareness and working with another school district, our hope is to educate and then substantially reduce bullying and its effect on our students.
The teams, cheerleaders, and support staff will have black incorporated into their uniforms that evening. They are encouraging parents, guardians, and community members that come to this game show support by donning black as well.
There will be donations taken with all proceeds going towards the Schuylkill County Youth Conference, which helps in bringing awareness to this cause and provides programs to our county's youth.
