Fall brings out the best of Mother Nature, from the brilliant colors on our trees, to the juicy harvest of all sorts of crisp apples and pears! The bounty of those is just begging to be baked, so let's make one of my favorite comforting desserts... the cobbler... Watch! In a pot, we bring some water, sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg to a boil, stir in some lemon juice, some of our season's best apples and pears that we peeled and sliced - and for a little novelty...some dried cranberries! Ya turn down the heat and let that simmer uncovered for about 10 minutes or so, till the fruit is tender, and stir in a mixture of cornstarch and water to thicken it up a bit. Now we can pour this into a baking dish ... or if we want, we can divvy it up into individual baking crocks, like we're doing today! But either way...we top these off with a mixture of biscuit mix and milk ... And in just about 15-20 minutes, as it bakes
off ...our kitchen's filled with familiar warming aromas coming from the oven! Wow! Told you it was easy! And when these come out all hot and bubbly, it's a celebration of autumn's favorite fruits covered with a flaky biscuit crust! Mmm... Maybe serve it up with a scoop of vanilla ice cream...and is that ever cozy comfort? Oh yeah! Look, the recipe for "Fall Harvest Cobbler" is online now...just perfect for enjoying the bounty of the season that only Mother Nature can award us with... For now...for the upcoming holidays...for whenever we have a hankerin' for some real homemade "OOH IT'S SO GOOD!! "
