Chestnuthill Township, Monroe County - State Police say a Monroe County man shot his own brother several times. That lead to a man hunt that lasted several hours.
Investigators said it happened on Grand Mesa Drive. That's in the Sierra View Development of Chestnuthill Township.
Kenneth Warren Reddick is recovering at an area hospital. State Police say his brother Marcel Gibbs shot him Thursday morning.
Joey Voccio lives a few houses away from the brothers. He said he was headed to the library when he heard screaming and saw a man covered in blood. He recalled," I saw the victim walking out the driveway here all bloody. He said, 'help me help me.' I'm like 'what happened?' He said he got shot."
Neighbor Alvaro Serje reacted," It's terrible I don't know how you could do that."
Voccio drove the victim to meet an ambulance and helped him call his mother. Voccio said, "He was like 'Mom, I can't believe he shot me.' And he was starting to like choke up."
Meanwhile, police went on a manhunt for the alleged shooter. Troopers flooded the area and called in a search helicopter. Albert Guzman lives across the street from the brothers. He said," I lost a few shingles on the siding from the helicopter that was flying so low." He also said Troopers flooded his property. He pointed to his lawn and said," All this was full of snipers and like SWAT and they were using the cars as platforms, so it was really chaotic."
Guzman was concerned for his kids who were supposed to be coming home from school. The bus stop area was covered in blood. He said," I have 8 children. The schools called. They said they wouldn't be able to be dropped off because of safety issues."
Troopers say Gibbs surrendered several hours later in the Stroudsburg area." The Troopers I should say did an excellent job," said Guzman.
The incident left many in the neighborhood shaken. Serje said," We left New York to come give the kids a better life and right next door it happens."
Gibbs could be charged with aggravated assault or attempted homicide. They expect to release that information later tonight.
