Update: Wilkes-Barre Police Officer Shot (11 am Live Report)

Wilkes-Barre, Luzerne County -- There's been a shooting at the high rise at Sherman Hills in Wilkes-Barre with three people wounded. Eyewitness News has learned a Wilkes-Barre Police Officer was shot in the ankle. One other person is dead and another injured following the shooting.

Eyewitness News has learned a Wilkes-Barre Police Officer  was shot in the ankle. He's at Geisinger Wyoming Valley for treatment.  Right now there is a heavy police presence at the hospital.
   The officer's name has not  been released.   State police are taking over the investigation.

  The event began unfolding just  after 8 A.M. 
Sources tell Eyewitness News officers were at the high rise serving a warrant for a murder suspect when the shooting happened.  

The I-Team's Andy Mehalshick has learned that the man shot dead was the suspect police were looking for.  The father of the suspect was also shot.  He was taken to the hospital.  There's no word on his condition.

  People who live in the area say they are frightened by not surprised by the violence.
