 The Osterhout Free Library will be celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Ken L. Pollock Children's Wing on Saturday, September 29th. This Rain or Shine, FREE event begins at 11 AM and runs until 4 PM on the patio at the Osterhout Library, located at 71 S. Franklin Street in downtown Wilkes-Barre

The Hillside Harvest Moon Fest at Abington Park will take place on Saturday, September 29th from 11AM until 2PM.

Live Music, Art Opening of Earth Art Trail, Plein Air Artists of the Abingtons, Autumn crafts and activities, Home Run Derby; Demos of Pumpkin' Chunkin' and Agility Dog Training.

The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Light The Night Walk

The Night Walk (LTN) on Saturday, September 29th at Nay Aug Park in Scranton. Registration begins at 4:30 p.m. and the Walk will start approximately at 6:30 p.m.

The Walk is an evening filled with inspiration.

The Alzheimer's Association Greater Pennsylvania Chapter invites Clinton/Lycoming area residents to unite in a movement to reclaim the future for millions by participating in the Alzheimer's Association Walk to End Alzheimer's. Indian Park / Pavilion 2 (100 Park Road, Montoursville, PA) will host the Walk beginning at 11:00 a.m.

Saturday, September 29 at Kirby Park in Wilkes-Barre. 10 a.m. registration, walk begins at 11 a.m.

There will also be a food and entertainment from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Kirby Park.

20th Annual Cancer Survivors Celebration

September 29, 2012  10am - Noon

McDade Park Scranton, PA
Local cancer survivors, caregivers, and oncology medical professionals will connect and re-unite with each other at the 20th Annual Cancer Survivors Celebration hosted by the Northeast Regional Cancer Institute.

  The highlight of this year's celebrations will be the "Circle of Survivors." This activity will allow everyone in attendance the opportunity to share a thought or inspirational message about their cancer experience, and will begin at 10:30am.

  The Pennsylvania State Police will accept unwanted, expired and unused prescription drugs on Saturday, Sept. 29, as part of National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, sponsored by the federal Drug Enforcement Agency.

From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., unwanted prescription medications may be dropped off at select state police barracks. No personal information is required for drop-off

The first Cooper Classic Golf Tournament, to benefit the refurbishment of the J.W. Cooper Community Center, White and Lloyd streets, will be held Sept. 30 at Mountain Valley Golf Course, Barnesville

Registration is 10 a.m. with tee off at 11 a.m., the awards dinner - barbecue ribs and chicken with sides - at 5 p.m. The deck party will be held from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. with music by Toolshed Jack. Non-golfers may attend the dinner and deck party for $25. The cost for the deck party only is $10.

The fall Greek Food Festival will be held from Thursday, October 4th to Saturday, October 6th from 11:00 A.M. to 8:00 P.M. daily at the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 32 East Ross Street (near the S. Main St. post office) in Wilkes-Barre.

 An assortment of delicious Greek food and pastries will be available for eat-in and take-out purchases, and ethnic Greek products, including Greek t-shirts and aprons, will be sold. Tours of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church will be offered upon clergy availability. Free local delivery within two miles of the church will be offered to food purchases over $30. Master Gardener Training
Penn State Extension in Lackawanna County will be offering the Master Gardener Training Program in the fall.
This program involves extensive training in the major aspects of home horticulture. In addition, candidates will commit to fifty hours of volunteer time including staffing the garden helpline.

The Ullmann/Swell 4 will present a jazz concert Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 8:30 p.m. in Bucknell Hall at Bucknell University. The concert, which is free and open to the public, is part of the University's ongoing Jazz at Bucknell First Wednesday Series.

The Oswego Jazz Project will perform in concert Thursday, Oct. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in the Rooke Recital Hall of the Weis Music Building at Bucknell University.
The concert is free and open to the public.
