Mr. Food: You can tell we're headed into big apple season... Well, just look around our Test Kitchen.... Kelly...she's making some caramel dipped chocolate apples, and Patty just took these apple cinnamon muffins out of the oven! And Howard, you're starting something that's darn good too! Howard: It smells so great in here, and with how popular coffee cakes are, we wanted to come up with something that would make any apple lover proud! We beat together some flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, butter and an egg, until it's crumbly like this. We stir in a couple apples that we peeled and chopped, and we can spread that in the bottom of a sprayed round cake pan. Mr. Food: Really any apple you have will work just fine! Howard: Now we top the batter with a mixture of melted butter, brown sugar, chopped pecans and a touch of cinnamon, and pop that in the oven for about 50 minutes or so.... When it comes out and the apples are all nestled into the coffee cake, and the brown sugar topping is all crispy crunchy...wow! Just imagine serving this warm, with maybe a scoop of vanilla ice cream! Mr. Food: Can't wait to dig in! Look, the recipe for "Apple Coffee Cake" plus the recipe for "Caramel-Dipped Chocolate Apples" are both online now, so you can get the reward of the apple bounty! Howard: And if you have a favorite apple recipe...one your family really loves...email it to us! Mr. Food: And maybe your recipe will be on TV! It's
