Two local Olympians had the sour taste of defeat in their Olympic Opener. The U.S. Field Hockey team lost to Germay, 2-0.
Paige Selenski and Keli Smith Puzo will try to help the U.S. rebound against Argentina on Tuesday at 2:00pm. The game scheduled to air on MSNBC.
Selenski, a Shavertown native, has never been an Olympian. Her field hockey teammate from Selinsgrove represented her country in the 2008 Beijing Games.
The Americans are hoping to improve on an eighth place finish four years ago.
Capturing a gold medal at the Pan American Games has the U.S. team full of confidence.
Smith Puzo is the oldest member on the team. She took time off from the sport after the '08 Games to welcome her two sons, Xavi and Ivan.
Selenski was named to the U.S. National Team in 2010, and currently is a standout for the University of Virginia.
A Dallas High School Graduate, Selenski is also the fourth field hockey player from the Wyoming Valley to reach the Olympics.
