Saturday is Nationwide Prescription Drug Take-Back Day

Nationwide Prescription Drug Take Back Day is an effort to collect potentially dangerous expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs for proper disposal and destruction.

The last event was held in October.  According to the Pennsylvania Attorney General's office on the day, law enforcement agencies in all 50 states collected more than 188 tons of pills.

The service is free and anonymous.

Collection sites will be available

 Pennsylvania State Police stations Wyoming, Shickshinny, Tunkhannock, Laporte and Towanda will be participating.  Hours 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Wayne County Drug Task Force and Local Police Departments will be collecting unwanted prescription drugs at  Stephens Pharmacy in Hawley and Honesdale 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM at the Honesdale store location (until 1:00 PM at the Hawley store location).
