Scranton Mayor and Union Agree To Hire Back 12 Firefighters

Scranton, Lackawanna County-Big changes are coming to Scranton's Fire Department.
  
  A  fire Friday morning in Scranton's East Mountain prompted the changes.  It took crews ten

minutes to respond to scene, since the fire station was closed.

  Scranton Mayor Chris Doherty, Scranton City Council and the Fire Fighters Union agreed this

afternoon to rehire 12  firefighters as of Saturday.

  The East Mountain Fire Station will also be permanently re-open.
