Franklin Township, Luzerne County -- The Blue Chip Farms Animal Shelter in the Back Mountain of Luzerne County is receiving animals everyday that were left homeless by floods.

Marge Bart, the owner of Blue Chip Shelter, told Eyewitness News, "Many of their owners can't keep their pets or are involved in long term clean-ups. Their homes were destroyed and they just can't keep their pets. We are getting a lot of cats, some dogs, even rabbits."

Bart says the public often forgets about pets and hopes this story will serve as a wake-up call to those people. She said, "We and other shelters, especially the no kill shelters, are always up against it when it comes to money and we are having a big fundraiser this Saturday at the Wilkes-Barre Township Fire Hall. Fundraisers like that and private donations keep us in operation."
