Flood Victims' Pets Have Safe Place to Stay in Central PA

Victoria Stryker of the Lycoming County SPCA says, "We learned from Hurricane Katrina that people won't leave without their pets."
With many shelters not accepting animals, pet owners were faced with difficult decisions.
But luckily for people in the Williamsport area, the Lycoming County SPCA is happy to house the furry friends until the flood issues are over.Stryker adds, "There was no charge. We know how strapped people are already and we were just happy to help."
The Lycoming County SPCA took in several dogs and cats from families that were evacuated from their homes.
Many flood victims lost everything, but this gesture at least gave them something back...peace of mind...if just a little.
Stryker notes, "It gives them a sense of ease to know their pets are being taken care of."
And if you find an animal in a flood damaged area, call your local SPCA. And if you've lost a pet, it's worth checking with your SPCA as well."
Stryker says, "I know how difficult it would be for me, so I'm glad we're able to help people."
